Diagnosis note: you must complete the diagnosis before attempting any cvt repairs. 1. Civic hybrid and insight only: make sure the ima battery level gauge shows at least three quarters charged. If you need to increase the ima charge, do this: • insight only: remove the eps (electronic power steering) fuse from the under-hood fuse/relay box. • start the engine, and run it at 3,500 rpm until the battery level gauge shows at least three quarters charged. • insight only: reinstall the eps fuse. 2. Connect the hds to the vehicle’s dlc, then turn the ignition switch to on (ii), and turn on the hds. 3. At the hds screen prompts, enter the vin (if prompted) and the odometer reading. 4. At the select mode screen, select honda systems. 5. At the system selection menu, select a/t. 6. From the mode menu, select snapshot. 7. Repair procedure 1. Install a rear upper control arm kit, and replace the flange bolts: • refer to page 18-39 of the 2006–2008 civic service manual, volume 2, or • online, enter keyword upper, then select rear upper arm removal/installation from the list. Note: this procedure is not complete unless you replace the flange bolts. 2. Measure and record the tread depth of the tires on the repair order using a tread depth gauge. Tread depth is measured at one of the grooves closest to the middle of the tire, from the top of the tread blocks to the bottom of the groove (not to the wear bars). If the inner edge of the tire is worn to the point where it is heavily flat-spotted or bald, use a value of 2/32 inches instead of the actual tread depth, to determine the prorated amount on the tire replacement information chart on page 1. (see photos #1, #2, and #3 on pages 3 and 4). 3. To determine the quantity of tires that require replacement, use the tire replacement information chart on page 1. The chart also lists the percentage that american honda pays. • if three or four tires have abnormal wear, mount, balance, and install four new tires. • if one or two tires have abnormal wear, mount, balance, and install two new tires onto the rear of the vehicle. 4. Set the tire pressures to the specifications on the driver’s doorjamb (b-pillar) label. 5. Do a four-wheel alignment using the new rear camber specification below:
