Repair procedure 1. Install a rear upper control arm kit, and replace the flange bolts: • refer to page 18-39 of the 2006–2008 civic service manual, volume 2, or • online, enter keyword upper, then select rear upper arm removal/installation from the list. Note: this procedure is not complete unless you replace the flange bolts. 2. Measure and record the tread depth of the tires on the repair order using a tread depth gauge. Tread depth is measured at one of the grooves closest to the middle of the tire, from the top of the tread blocks to the bottom of the groove (not to the wear bars). If the inner edge of the tire is worn to the point where it is heavily flat-spotted or bald, use a value of 2/32 inches instead of the actual tread depth, to determine the prorated amount on the tire replacement information chart on page 1. (see photos #1, #2, and #3 on pages 3 and 4). 3. To determine the quantity of tires that require replacement, use the tire replacement information chart on page 1. The chart also lists the percentage that american honda pays. • if three or four tires have abnormal wear, mount, balance, and install four new tires. • if one or two tires have abnormal wear, mount, balance, and install two new tires onto the rear of the vehicle. 4. Set the tire pressures to the specifications on the driver’s doorjamb (b-pillar) label. 5. Do a four-wheel alignment using the new rear camber specification below:

Rear bumper removal/installation note: 1. Remove the clips (a), screws (b, c), and bolts (d) securing the rear bumper (e). 2. Pull on the rear bumper (a) at the wheel arch areas to release it from the hooks (b) on the side spacers (c). 3. With the help of an assistant, while pulling the wheel arch portion away from the side spacer (a), pull the 4. With the help of an assistant, pull the rear bumper to release the bumper (a) from the hooks (b) on the upper bracket (c). 5. Remove the hooks (a), then remove the rear bumper absorber (b) from the rear bumper beam (c). 6. Install the bumper in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: make sure the rear bumper engages the hooks (of both the side bracket and side spacers) on each side securely. Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.

Repair procedure replace one or both rear damper assemblies as needed: • refer to page 18-41 of the service manual, or • online, enter keyword damper, and select rear damper/spring removal and installation from the list. Diagnosis 1. Test-drive the vehicle over rough roads while varying the speed from 10 to 25 mph. • if you hear the noise, go to step 2. • if you don’t hear the noise, continue with normal troubleshooting procedures. 2. Remove the rear seat-back: • refer to page 20-122 of the 2007 tl service manual, or • online, enter keywords rear seat, and select rear seat removal/installation from the list. 3. Insert a shop towel into both pockets of the upper shock mounts. 4. Test-drive the vehicle again over rough roads. Remove a towel alternately from the left then the right to isolate the noisy damper. Once the noisy damper(s) is determined, go to repair procedure.

2008 civic – rear door panel removal/installation special tools required ktc trim tool set sojatp2014* trim pad remover, snap-on a 177a or equivalent, commercially available *available through the honda tool and equipment program; call 888-424-6857 4-door note: take care not to scratch the door or the related parts. use the appropriate tool from the ktc trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components. when prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage. 1. Raise the glass fully. 2. Pry out on the rear area of the inner handle cap (a) to release the hooks (b, c) with the appropriate trim tool. 3. Remove the screw and detach the clip securing the inner handle (a). 4. Remove the power window switch panel (a). -1 pry up on the rear edge of the switch panel to detach the clip with the appropriate trim tool. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the side hooks (b). -3 pull the switch panel rearward to release the front hook (c). Disconnect the power window switch connector (d). 5. Remove the screw. 6. Remove the door panel (a) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it. -1 start at the bottom edge of the door panel, detach the clips that are just above the marks (b) on the edge of the panel with a commercially available trim pad remover. Detach the remaining clips (c, d).
